This project I was asked to animate some artwork for Bristol based producer, Sorrow, for his newest album release on Fent Plates - Carpe Noctem. He's a well established artist with over 59 thousand followers on soundcloud, 37 thousand likes on facebook and over 500 thousand plays collectively on YouTube. Being featured by UKF and having released several albums, he's quite a big name in the scene.
The image I was given had been composed by another artist and I was given the task to animate it in some way. I was not told at the time who it was for but was told there were several other animators given the task and the best would be chosen for the final release. I've also been a fan of Sorrow's music for a while and it's an honour to be doing some work for him and Za (owner of Fent Plates Records / White Beach / Yellow Flower).
So I animated this in After Effects, seperating the scene into individual elements. The black strip in front, then the foreground, midground and background - which then gave me the ability to create a parallax effect as the digital camera moved through the scene. The seperate layers also allowed me to add effects to selected layers without affecting the rest. The sky layer was replaced with some timelapse footage I filmed myself in Wales.
This is the first track on the Album called 'Intro'.
