This was a proof of concept piece I did for Holdens to prove that we can keep up with the latest trends with 3D animations in the real world. This was used in their weekly newsletter to the client base to show that they can now do this type of work.
"Photorealistic animations can make you question reality and can tell a story you couldnt normally tell with traditional video."
As you can see, by having a 3D model of your environment, you can place any 3D subject in the scene and it will be able to react to the 3D environment, giving realistic lighting, bounce lighting, reflections, refraction and physics. Here I simulated thousands of bouncing balls bouncing across the scene.
The only resource I used for this work was a photo of the building, my good friend Blender and a technique called 'projection mapping' (and a bit of Photoshop Beta's AI Generative Fill). Watch the BTS below to see how detailed the 3D model is in wireframe and then how much extra detail is added with the image texture plugged into the bump.
